Fullness in Christ Ministries (FCM) started its annual mission trip to the Philippines the first week of February 2016. A team of seven people from the United States are meeting with 23 pastors, and hundreds of children, out in the field during the three week mission trip. What follows is one of several field updates from the team:
Yesterday, we visited an island in the Philippines. It is only accessible by boat. It was hot and dusty. We saw no cars or other vehicles, only motorcycles and motorbikes with sidecars. About 1,600 people live there, including the children in this photo. Most of those living on the island are very poor.
A pastor with whom we work began a church among these unevangelized people. We ministered, prayed, told Bible stories to children, fed a simple meal and excited the children with candy and fun snacks.
There is a small school on the island. However, we saw many children of school age who were not in school. I asked the pastor about it. He said there are many children on the island who don’t go to school. Most are too poor to meet the financial requirements of school. Some had been sponsored at one time, but at this time there is no sponsoring group with a ministry on the island.
I believe God wants to move on the people in this place and change it and I believe it will start with the children. They are open to the Gospel. They have a good pastor. They need to get an education and good nutrition. God may speak to your heart about being part of what He wants to do among the people on the island. You can respond by sponsoring children or helping to feed them through our “Food for Learning” program.
Pray about it. If God speaks to you about being part of what He will do on this remote island, you can visit our website at www.fullnessinchristministries.org to learn more about our programs and to donate to help these children. You will be blessed.
